How to Set Photo Validation

Time Clock

Photo Validation prompts team members to capture a photo during clock-in so you can verify who started the shift. Follow these steps to turn it on and decide if the photo is optional or mandatory.

Step 1: Open the More tab

From the home screen, tap More in the bottom navigation to access administrative settings.

Step 2: Open Photo Validation

On the More screen, scroll to the Time Clock section and tap Photo Validation.

Step 3: Turn on Capture Clock In Photos

Use the toggle to enable photo capture. When on, team members are prompted to allow camera access on their devices.

Your team members will be asked to turn on camera access permissions on their mobile devices.

Step 4: Choose how strict photo capture should be

Select the enforcement level that matches your policy:

  • Optional – Team members are asked for a photo, but they can still clock in without one if necessary.
  • Mandatory – Clocking in requires a photo. Make sure every team member has granted camera permission in the mobile app.

Tap the option that fits your business, or adjust it later as policies change.

Tips

  • Communicate the photo policy to team members before turning it on so they know why the app is asking for camera access.
  • If a team member uses a shared device, remind them to sign out after clocking in so the next person’s photo is recorded correctly.
  • Need to review photos later? Open the shift record from the web dashboard to see the attached validation images.
