How to Troubleshoot Location Updates

Location problems come from two different layers: the device must produce a usable location, and the account must have the correct Work Site or location policy.

Check the error and timestamp

Start with the exact Clock message or the latest-location timestamp shown to a Manager. A stale point is not proof of the person’s current location.

Time Clock

Location is required

Turn on Location Services and allow ShiftFlow to use your device location, then try again.

Fix iPhone permission

Open iOS Settings for ShiftFlow, allow the location level requested by the workflow, and keep Precise Location on when Work Site distance is enforced.

Return to ShiftFlow and keep it open while it refreshes.

Fix Android permission

Open App Info for ShiftFlow, allow Location, choose precise accuracy when available, and review battery restrictions that can pause updates.

Use precise location

Turn on the device Location service. Wi-Fi and mobile scanning can improve positioning even when the network connection is not Wi-Fi.

Fix browser location

On web, allow location for the ShiftFlow site in browser settings, then reload the page. Browser permission is separate from the mobile app permission.

Check connectivity and device conditions

  • Reconnect to Wi-Fi or mobile data.
  • Move away from dense structures or areas with poor satellite visibility.
  • Disable aggressive battery saving for ShiftFlow.
  • Set device date and time automatically.
  • Update ShiftFlow and the operating system.

Check the Work Site

If the device has a current location but ShiftFlow says it is too far away, verify the saved map pin, address, radius, and Job Code link. Do not enlarge a radius until the actual site configuration is confirmed.
