How Team Members Use Cost Codes
When your business enables Cost Codes, ShiftFlow asks for one after you select a Job Code. The Cost Code identifies how the time should be categorized within that job.
Clock in with a Cost Code
Step 1: Start Clock In and select a Job Code
Tap Clock In and complete any photo, location, work-site, or Job Code requirements.

Change a Cost Code during the shift
Tap Switch Job on the active shift screen. Select the next Job Code, tap Next, choose its Cost Code, and tap Start.
To keep the same Job Code but change only the Cost Code, select the current Job Code and choose the new Cost Code on the next screen. The overall shift continues.
Missing and archived Cost Codes
- When Cost Codes are enabled, the selection cannot continue until an available code is chosen.
- If the correct code is missing, contact a Manager instead of choosing an inaccurate category.
- Archived Cost Codes disappear from new selections but remain on historical shifts and reports.
- Offline Mode shows Cost Codes cached on the device. A newly created or restored code may not appear until the app reconnects and refreshes settings.
Managers can configure choices using How to Create and Manage Cost Codes. For the complete job-change flow, see How to Switch Jobs During a Shift.
